IncubatorWorks Elmira Gets Piece of $114M NENY Grant

Summary

IncubatorWorks is opening an Elmira Incubator to serve Chemung County, the first of its kind in the area. Currently, IncubatorWorks supports entrepreneurs and startup companies in Steuben and Allegany counties in the Southern Tier.

The Elmira IncubatorWorks also features a Makerspace created with the support of New Energy New York, a coalition led by Binghamton University that was awarded nearly $114 million to grow the region's lithium battery economy. This new branch of IncubatorWorks will provide youth programming and courses with a focus on STEM, which could create more jobs regionally in the battery industry.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to Chemung County for their unwavering support and funding of the Elmira Incubator Space, and to Binghamton University for their support through the New Energy New York grant of the makerspace within the Incubator,” said Ashleigh Madison, Executive Director at IncubatorWorks.
