Labor & Employment Seminar

June 9, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

The US Department of Labor has issued new guidance on who is and employee and who is an independent contractor.  The state and federal penalties for making a mistake are steep, and legal fees for defending an agency’s action can easily add up.

The Seminar will be hosted and run by the law firm of  Hinman, Howard, & Kattell LLP

The primary topic will be avoiding the pitfalls that arise when companies hire someone to perform duties that really make the person an employee, but the company tries to classify the person as an independent contractor in an effort to avoid the headaches and financial obligations that come with taking on employees. Of course, we will be happy to answer questions and talk about other issues startups face.

Happy Hour and networking immediately following the seminar

Please RSVP to Miguel Aponte at [email protected].  Seating is limited.
