Tales from the Trenches – Foodtrepreneurs
February 8, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Tales from the Trenches is a signature storytelling series and part of the Drive Binghamton innovation project.
Guest entrepreneurs will be front and center during a fireside chat, sharing the nuts & bolts of issues encountered in building a company.
Our goal is to get more contemporary founders to share their experiences building companies in Binghamton and other Upstate communities.
Founders will talk about what it’s like to run a business today in front of a live Binghamton audience. These discussions will evoke conversation, connect founders to other members of the community and inspire all who attend to Drive Binghamton forward!
This is not the usual “how to find funding” discussion. Instead, entrepreneurs will talk about how they landed on their ideas, how they made the decision to start a business, how they found their first customers, and much more.
530PM – Networking / Live Music
6-645PM – Fireside Chat
645-7PM – Audience Q&A
7-730PM – Open Conversation / Live Music
Eliot Fiks – Owner, Whole in the Wall
Eliot launched Whole in the Wall in 1980 with a couple of friends as a natural foods restaurant. In 1994, they started manufacturing a line of all-natural premium pesto sauces, which are available in select stories and online.
Chris Kirby – Founder, Ithaca Hummus
The path to fresh food starts with fresh ingredients. That’s what makes Ithaca Hummus unique. Freshly made Lebanese hummus in Ithaca, NY and sold throughout the US.
Tales from the Trenches will also feature a special LIVE performance by Binghamton recording artist, singer and songwriter Allie Torto, accompanied by Nick Garnsey on guitar.
Food and drink will be provided, including amazing craft beer from the Binghamton Brewery Company. Working in the trenches of small business themselves, Binghamton Brewing Co. toasts everyone that comes together to strengthen the Binghamton community.
