The Southern Tier Hardware Entrepreneurship Ecosystem is a project by the Southern Tier Startup Alliance that strengthens the economy and employment in Upstate New York, combining the region’s assets in engineering, materials science, and manufacturing with cutting-edge business incubation, acceleration, and entrepreneurship theory to foster entrepreneurs and quicken the development of product-oriented startups.
The project is made up of 4 key areas:
Developing and delivering programming to educate on the entrepreneurial process and connect potential hardware entrepreneurs to resources.
Assisting entrepreneurs and new companies through the Southern Tier Hardware Accelerator program (a pilot accelerator funded by the Small Business Administration)
Serving as a core organization of the regional hardware ecosystem and connecting it to national and global resources.
Connecting growing companies to leading researchers at Cornell University, Binghamton University, and Corning Incorporated.
